Why Tiles Fail in Bali

Walk around any older Bali villa and knock on the floor tiles — a hollow sound means the adhesive coverage was poor and the tile is sitting on air. Give it another year and it'll crack or pop. The same thing happens in bathrooms where waterproofing was skipped — water gets into the concrete, the adhesive bond fails, and tiles start coming loose.

These aren't mystery failures. They're the result of shortcuts that save an hour of work today and cause problems for years. We don't take those shortcuts.

What We Do Differently

• Level the substrate before laying — not just build up adhesive to compensate
• Apply waterproofing membrane in all wet areas before any tile goes down
• Use the correct adhesive for the tile type and location
• Place expansion joints where the area size requires them
• Plan the layout from the centre so cuts are even and corners don't look wrong
• Grout cleanly and seal natural stone and light grout where needed
